Ontario residents can apply online for payday loans from $100 to $1,500 with lenders licensed under the province’s Payday Loans Act, 2008. Ontario has some of the most detailed borrower protections in the country, and knowing them makes you a stronger borrower.

How much can I borrow in Ontario?
The lender must work out your net pay before lending, and can offer you at most half of it. If you take home $1,400 every two weeks, the largest loan you can get is $700. First-time borrowers are often offered less.
The extended payment plan
If you take out three payday loans with the same lender within 63 days, the third agreement must let you repay in equal instalments over several pay periods. You can leave the plan at any time by paying the balance, with no penalty. Needing this plan is a good signal to call a credit counsellor.
If you can’t repay on time
Call the lender before the due date. A lender that breaks certain Ontario rules may only be able to collect the amount you borrowed, not the cost of borrowing. You can complain to Consumer Protection Ontario if you think a rule was broken.
Licensing
Every payday lender and loan broker serving Ontario borrowers, including online businesses, must be licensed by the province. Jessica’s House Ontario licence no. [ONTARIO LICENCE NO.].
