Islanders can apply online with payday lenders and brokers licensed under PEI’s Payday Loans Act. If a lender or broker was not licensed when you signed, you owe no cost of borrowing at all.

The seven-day rule
A PEI lender or broker cannot give you a new payday loan until at least seven days after you have fully repaid the last one, and you have proof of that. If you repaid on Friday the 3rd, the earliest you can borrow again is Friday the 10th. The pause gives you one more pay cycle to see whether you really need it.
Cancelling in PEI
You can cancel without a reason or penalty up to the end of the second day after signing. If the lender is closed that day, the deadline moves to its next business day. You must give the lender notice and return the money.
Ask about late charges up front
Ask the lender what it will charge if you can’t repay on time, and get the answer in writing before you sign.
