Payday loans Welland: two jobs, one application

Many Welland residents hold more than one job. Here is how lenders count income from several employers, and how that changes what you can borrow.

Welland has about 56,000 residents (2021 Census) on the Welland Canal in the middle of the Niagara Peninsula, with a Niagara College campus and manufacturing and service employers. Welland residents apply online with Ontario-licensed lenders, with funds sent by e-Transfer.

A Welland exampleSam works part-time at a warehouse, $700 every two weeks, and weekends at a restaurant, $400. Both are deposited to the same account. The lender counts both, so his take-home is $1,100 and his limit is $550. If his restaurant pay went to a different account, the lender might only see $700, for a $350 limit.

Welland borrowers are covered by Ontario’s payday loan rules: at most $14 per $100, half your net pay, and two business days to cancel.

Welland-specific things to know

  • Put all pay in one account. Lenders count deposits they can see. Income split across accounts may not all be counted.
  • Use your lowest week. If shifts at one job vary, plan repayment around the smaller paycheque, not the bigger one.
